Have you experienced true love?   Do you know what it means to be truly committed to a wife or husband in marriage for life?  Many people have made such vows at a wedding ceremony but have seen their promises dissolve when the pressures, disappointments, and  problems of life erode their “love” and destroy their marriages.  The almighty God of creation has provided for us the love that people desire to experience in their lives and marriages.  Let us see what God has said to us in His Holy Scriptures, the Bible, about love.

In the God-given writings of the man of God, John, we read in the Bible in I John, chapter 4, verses 8-10: “…God is love.  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

God is true love.  In His love, God provides so that our needs will be met.  God’s provision takes care of needs that we cannot care for ourselves.  We are sinners.  (Romans chapter 3, verse 23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”  Ecclesiastes chapter 7, verse 20: “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”)  Our sin must be forgiven by God in order for us to have a right relationship to God.  In a God given relationship we are assured of eternal life in Heaven when we die.

John chapter 3, verse 16 gives us this promise:  “For God so loved the world [you and me], that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”   When we accept Jesus as our Messiah, who provided the blood of atonement for us to be forgiven of our sins, as God demand in the law of Moses, God forgives us of our sins.

The Jewish man of God, Paul, recorded God’s Word for us in Romans chapter 5, verses 8-11:  “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Messiah, by whom we have now received the atonement.”   For details of atonement given by God through Moses in the Jewish Bible, read Leviticus chapter 5, verses 5-10, chapter 16 and chapter 17, verse 11.  To see that God promised to send the Messiah to die for our atonement, read the Jewish writings of Isaiah, chapter 53 and listen to the audio on this website.

God’s true love has been shown to us in His sending Messiah Jesus to die and provide the blood of atonement for us to be forgiven of our sins.  As we put our trust in the God of Israel and Messiah Jesus, we will be forgiven of all sin and have a new life of true peace, love and joy.
